WhatsApp bringing back old Status, will call it Tagline
facing backlash and user anger at the new changes in the app, WhatsApp is reportedly bringing back the old Status feature that allowed users to set up a text message as their status in their users profiles. However, now the feature -- once it is back -- will be called Tagline.
On Thursday WhatsApp had rolled out a new feature called Status. This adds a tab to the app, similar to the Chat tab, where people can share their photos and videos. At the same time, company removed the old "status" feature that was part of user profile.
These question would cross up your minds after update in whatsapp:
1. Where's my good old status?
2. Where's the contacts list?
3.Now it
looks more or less similar to the other photo-sharing apps likes Instagram or
Snapchat. So why do we need it?
Now, that
status message is gone. But that is not the point. The point is that this good
old Status feature was used by WhatsApp users to inform their contacts about
something. Say for example, someone is on holiday. He or she will put up a
Status saying that "travelling, don't call" and hope that the message
reaches people. Two weeks later, after back from holiday, the user would
replace the status with something else... This ability to tell your WhatsApp
contacts what about your "status" is now gone, replaced by the new
WhatsApp Status feature, which won't let you set a text message as a status and
won't let you keep the "status" for more than 24 hours.
